Some screenshots of event Designs/UX designs during my time at Tencent Games.
Most of my work was collaborating with team members on undisclosed projects/events/data analysis, or I needed to utilize the company’s internal console, so it cannot presented here. However, during my internship, I was able to participate in releasing several public game events that can be presented here.
League of Legends: Wild Rift
There are 2 events that I participated in. The first one is a community chat daily check-in event to increase DAU and user retention rate (Although the picture shows the December event dates, the template and rewards were reused from August to September) on WeChat - users must link in-game accounts and add Wild Rift’s official account to receive in-game rewards daily. The second event is a referral/daily activity event to increase total player count. The mechanic is when users refer their friends or participate in matches with or without their friends; they can acquire points that can be used to exchange in-game rewards on the WeChat client.
Responsibility:
Participated in team discussions for QA testing schedules, asset implementations, and retrospective user participation data reviews.
Worked with Wild Rift China’s team to understand their goal metrics and accommodated their needs (increase ARPDAU, MAU, etc.) by creating the specific events (daily sign-ins, referrals, adding “Official Accounts”), adjusting event release schedules, creating UI/UX design based on their assets provisions, and promoting community events through news releases on various social media platforms.
Presented event result reports to Tencent Games Games Operation and the Wild Rift team.
Assisted data analysts and Game Operations team leaders in developing future event strategies in Wild Rift by analyzing past performances in other similar Tencent titles.
Lost Ark Personal Assistant
I collaborated with Tencent Games’ engineers to develop and implement a WeChat AI assistant that responds to users’ chat inputs if they are related to in-game information. The model was imported from Lost Ark, and the team used UE5 to create the interfaces/screenshots.
Responsibilities:
Project managed the development timeline for this event release, from meetings with Lost Ark developers to QA testing.
Used UE5 Blueprint with developers to set up the assistant's poses, screenshots, and interfaces.
Developed the WeChat community event (as shown beside) that rewards players for adding the assistant using an internal HTML console.
Created the function of the UI buttons/other pathways to transfer users that added the assistant on WeChat to in-game interface for rewards completion.
Designed the event UI and pieced all the art assets the Lost Ark China team provided.
Contra Returns
This event is the same as above but for Contra Returns. We analyzed previous “Add Assistant & Get Reward” events through spreadsheet graphs around this period (August-September) to see which time segment users respond the most to the assistant’s information/game event news. After determining the optimal time to release the event and when to release, we quickly QA tested the event before opening it to the public.
Responsibilities:
Since the Game Operations team for this game is the same as the Wild Rift. My responsibilities roughly remained the same. However:
After collaborating on developing the event, I managed the QA testing phase with 50 QA testers.
Created a bug database after each bug report by QA testers and assisted the engineers in fixing the internal HTML console that created the event.
